Anpanman<麵包超人> is a superman whose head is made of anpan. His work is helping hungry and troubled people in anpan world. Anpanman has some special skills that help him fight the bad guys (Baikinman), he can fly, and he also skillfully executes the an-punch and an-kick when necessary. Of course, he does have a few weak points. Those are primarily bacteria, mold and dirt. And water. But thanks to Uncle Jam , he has a special helmet that can protect his bread face from getting wet. Anpanman loses his special powers if his head is damaged, but Uncle Jam can bake a new one each day.

Uncle Jam<果醬爺爺 >(Jam Ojisan) is the kindly old baker who created Anpanman by baking the first dough and praying to God for "living bread." From his bread factory nestled deep in the forest, Uncle Jam is able to revitalize Anpanman and all the other bread-based superheros (e.g. Currypanman and Shokupanman).

Baikinman<細菌小子>(Bateria man) is a supervillain germ who born to fight Anpanman. He comes from Baikin Planet and zips about in little flying machines, each week plotting a new way to fell Anpanman or his friends. Of course, this bad guy always loses.
